In the fall I dug up some of the daffodils in my Flower Garden. I was surprised how many bulbs were increasing. I have chosen white daffodils with just a little yellow. I’ve grown them for 4 or 5 years and now they are really growing in clumps – and they are getting crowded. (more…)
We were told to prepare for a snowstorm. It did snow with large flakes, and then very finely. There was not much to see. I went to bed. I was surprised when I woke up very early in the morning. As the sun began to offer light I saw our backyard garden – and we were delighted.
My very skilled daughter, Betsy, Director of Environmental Quality, Water and Wastewater at the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, has worked for the MWRA for many years. Recently she sent us photos of the beauty on the water. She spends a lot of time out on the water.
As a gardener who has Milkweeds (of a sort) I was fascinated by this new book, The Milkweed Lands, written by Eric Lee-Mader, and Illustrated by Beverly Duncan. There are many types of milkweed and I was amazed by how many types exist. (more…)
Christmas is passing, but a pink Geranium is giving me a lovely little flower. I do not understand why none of my other geraniums are blooming, but I am happy to admire this one. (more…)
Cookies and Fruit
Christmas is very close and we have been busy, getting fruits – apples and oranges – and making lots of different cookies like Cranberry, Apricot and Oatmeal cookies, and the last of four Pasticcini di Mandalora which makes soft almond cookies. (more…)
This morning I woke up and it was quite dark. I looked out the window and saw the heavy rain that was filling our backyard garden. The picture looks like the rain is no longer falling, but it is still raining gently. (more…)
I have adorned our Christmas tree for more than 50 years, and I have collected many of these ornaments. Over the years I collected lot of birds for the tree, and in 1989 my husband and I went to Bejing where I had a job. While there I learned about the Journey to the West.
Lakes in a backyard
This morning Henry and I went out to find our Christmas Tree. Our trip was to Meadowcrest Stables – Christmas Tree Farm, not very far from our house. We met our crew who suggested we walk through the fields to see what we would like. (more…)
