The preschool kids from Buckland-Shelburne Elementary School came to the Bridge of Flowers yesterday morning to drop off the 21 dahlia tubers they planted and have been tending for the past weeks. Head Gardener Carol DeLorenzo and I greeted them and thanked them for their patient work in caring for the ‘China Doll’ dahlias that will bloom in all the shades of the sunset later in the season. Everyone loves dahlia season.
After several days of excitement in Shelburne Falls with Hollywood arriving – and leaving, the last few props were being taken down. Several scenes from the movie Labor Day, based on the book Labor Day by noted author Joyce Maynard, were shot here. Our little village was turned into Holton Mills. For a while.
Signs are coming down.
Clothes from the 1980s were already gone when I passed by this window. Now Rethreads is back as itself, all Hollywood glamour gone.
Five mintues after I took this picture, the awning was taken down. Bridge Street Beauty Salon is about to be reinstated.
These signs at the end of the Iron Bridge will not be there long. Hollywood is returning to its left coast.
My computer is back in action and tomorrow Hollywood will be only a dream and I’ll be back to talking about gardens and flowers.
How very exciting to have a movie set in your neck of the woods!!
