Neighbors would not think that I have a very pretty garden. And I can understand because the tree leaves are stiff and brown, but notice that there are green leaves still thriving.
Do you see the pink flower? It is the last Japanese Primrose of the season. This Primrose is a surprise in this late season but the earliest time this year, the primroses showed up in water. Truly! About 20 years ago my friend showed me her early garden. It was sunny and there were green leaves rising from water. She smiled at my surprise and told me it would soon show off the primroses. Now I have enjoyed the primroses, usually blooming in the water, and how much the flower goes higher and higher. My last primrose blossom is about to leave. But will rejoin us in the early spring.
The last primrose of summer!
My mother grew primroses. I remember admiring them when everything else seemed dead or sleeping in the yard. Cheering!
Jeane – I am so glad you had the joy of seeing primroses. Watch again early in the spring.
