Good glory in the morning on these August days. Things are looking a little fresher after the 2-1/2 inches of rain we had this past weekend. And another inch last night. At first I didn’t think I had much in bloom – and then I took another look.
I didn’t expect the aconite would be embracing the Moth Light hydrangea – or vice versa.
I bought a bag of acidanthra bulbs on a whim and them forgot where I planted them, and even that I had planted them
Arizona Sun Gaillardia are doing well – after a slow start – and so are the Oranges and Lemons gaillardias in the other bed.
The Switzerland shasta daisies are really just about gone. Deadheading needed.
Other plants in bloom: an occasional rose, Cana agastache, bee balm, daylilies, phlox, Black Beauty lilies (much smaller this year I think because of the drought), impatiens, and pots of million bells, petunias and fuschia. Tigridia bulbs in pots also still putting out a bloom a day.

Your Morning Glories are beautiful. My husband built me a brand new trellis this year and it took awhile but all the morning glories are in bloom now and they make me smile, just as your pictures of all your flowers do. 🙂
Every year I tell myself I’m going to plant some ‘Heavenly Blue’ morning glories and then I debate so long about where to plant them that I never do. Those blue blooms are just beautiful! I haven’t had much luck with ‘Oranges and Lemons’ coming back for a second year, but my ‘Arizona Suns’ are doing much better. Three inches of rain sounds heavenly!
At our first apartment there was a very ugly backyard with a chain link fence along an alley. Judy and I planted morning glories on the fence, they were so beautiful. The landlord was thrilled.

There is nothing like that particular shade of morning glory blue to make me want to grow them again! Maybe I can try some in pots! They just can’t be trusted not to reseed overaggressively here.
I love your Morning Glory pic! I had that variety, Grandpa Ott (at least that’s what the seed packet said) earlier this year. I didn’t catch some of the seed in time and a few young plants have come up from seed. I too bought some acidanthra bulbs on a whim and planted them in a planter pot. The blooms are so sweet and delicate!
