Snow again?

This was the view of the newly planted Front Garden yesterday morning at 6:30 am. It was still snowing and the temperature was 32 degree. Windy.  You can’t see, but my tiny lettuce and broccoli transplants appeared to be damaged.

The herbs did not mind the snow and by 10 am the snow was gone and temperatures had risen to 40 degrees. All is well – as far as I can tell.

Today dawned with brilliant sun and 42 degrees at 7 am. A heat wave is promised.

  I thought of you yesterday morning, for we had snow too and I was sure your higher elevation would have had lower temps… with more snow. Last night was a bit scary too… with some very cold temps promised. I look forward to seeing your new garden grow. Tomorrow is Arbor Day … and then it will be May!

  Cheers for the heat wave. I woke to gently falling snow, as well. I think this return to winter is all my fault since I naively spruced up my blog yesterday to reflect gardening season vs. ski season!

  I saw all the snow across the country on the Weather Channel yesterday and wondered how many gardeners would be affected by this. So sorry about your lettuce and broccoli, but they may surprise you and bounce back. Let’s hope so!

  Carol – Having come through last night, I think I might be safe from frost. I am so ready for May.
  Kate – You cannot blame yourself – it must be the chaos of climate change.
  Rose – I think the seedlings are going to be OK. It gets cold, but we have wind and breezes that don’t let the cold collect and hurt anything. so far.
